SCree 2 callout

Hello, bonjour, guten tag, ola!

After the modest but exhausting success of SCree pilot issue (summer edition) I have just about recovered enough to put together another one, but I need YOUR help (yes you that’s right).

A publication that occupies the liminal space between DIY zine and glossy mag.

This is the idea. A Berliner format (think like the Guardian size) publication on newsprint, perhaps 52 pages, we’ll see. Full to the gills with actual articles this time, illustrated with drawings, art, photos.

I want to pay people so I’m looking for funding/sponsorship.

We need an editorial team, writers, designers, illustrators, photographers, artists.

This could be a collective type thing. In the past I have laid out and printed collaborative zines mostly myself, with a little help from my friends, as they say. This time it would help to have other people on board discussing article ideas and appropriate illustrations to commission. We will get it professionally printed as its too big for my printer at home and deserves to be printed in bulk.

If you have contributed to, or read, any of the Gravity zines or the last SCree then you have an idea of the idea, but it would be cool for it to go in a more magazine-type direction. Any constructive comments or suggestions are most welcome. I’ve usually suggested a totally open or themed brief (music, food, fashion) but for this it might be better to have an array of structured sections like the above as well as reviews, art, music, gardening, hell anything creative readers are interested in.

This zine will be an analogue culture object in opposition to the ephemeral and distracting social media that technology nigh on imposes on us. Something genuinely inspired and interesting that you want to read, and a vehicle for creative people to get their stuff out there, and rightly be paid for their work. Any suggestions how to get sponsorship or funding I’d love to hear from you.
